Hello there!  My name is Hayrünnisa, and I study ELT at Marmara University. As you can remember, last year, we had a course on Instructional Technologies and Material Design in ELT. This year, we have another course called "Current Issues," which is a follow-up to that course. From now on, I will use this blog to share my "Current Issues" course's tasks, task processes, and experiences with you.

 Hi everybody, we ended the term and this is my final post for this course. First, I want to say that it was the most complex course of our department until now but I really enjoyed it. It changed my opinions about using technology in the classroom. Everybody was talking about the benefits of technology in teaching but I was not be able to understand them until taking this course. Tasks were so beneficial for our instructions in the future but some were really hard and embarrassing. For example, digital storytelling was the most difficult one and I didn't enjoy it. However, collaborative writing task and the last task of the term were really enjoyable and not that much difficult. Throughout this course I have learned using so many applications or websites such as Padlet, magic school AI, there's an AI for that, etc. I am glad that I took this course and my lecturer is Gökçe KURT <3

 Hello there, this is my final task for this course. It was the most enjoyable task I have ever done. It was using artificial intelligence and interviewing a historical figure through the chatbot. I have chosen Bahriye Üçok who is the first Turkish woman professor and I asked questions about her life, academic work, and some specific questions. I love her and while reading the chatbot's responses my eyes filled with tears because it was like a real conversation. I think AI has so many benefits such as helping students to save time and get correct feedback and it facilitates learning. As I have said before it was the most enjoyable task for me there are so many pros of AI but the most important con was the app was stopping without reason and it consumed my time and challenged me. I think I can integrate these AI tools easily into my lessons. For example, I can give my students a writing task and they can get feedback and correct themselves through AI.  Hello everybody, this week our task was collaborative writing and we were expected to either write a film review or about a global or local issue. We have worked in groups and my group consisted of three people; Sümeyya, Sümeyra, and me. I think this task was the easiest and most enjoyable one of all. I really enjoyed when doing this task and my friends were so hardworking. We first decided to choose our topic and we thought that it should be something that chases our attention so that we can search and write about it. That's why we chose the migration problem in our country to search about. Then, we thought about what we know and what we want to know about this issue. After that part, for me, I personally tried to find articles related to my questions rather than videos or other kinds of information sources. Hello everyone, our task was digital storytelling this week; it was my first time creating such a thing. Actually, it was the most difficult task ever. It was difficult because we hadn't accomplished a task resembling this before. I needed to learn how to use applications advised by our instructor; learning it was one of the most challenging steps. First, Bilge Dilara Doğan and I decided on the type of it. We have chosen fictional digital storytelling because we thought that it would be more fun. And, then we created the story, characters, and the script. We used Pixton to create the background and characters. I think it was the most handy app. After that, we recorded our voice and edited it. However, the voice quality was not that good because we both live in a dorm and it was hard to find a quiet place to record our voice.  Hello there, today I have recorded a podcast. It was both tiring and fun actually. My podcast was a monologue one. Because I decided to work individually rather than with a pair. I've talked about my idea to improve or make the world a better place. The most difficult part of the task was the searching part. Because basing my thoughts on a concrete basis was hard. However, I have overcome it. First, I scanned articles on the internet about my topic and then wrote a script for my 60-second-long podcast. After that, I recorded my voice a couple of times chose the best one, and edited it. To be honest, I would like to say that the recording part was a little bit stressful for me. I think it really supports learning, and later in my teaching years I would like to give such a task to my students and I can prepare podcasts for my students as well. For week 7 in the instructional technologies course, we were supposed to design an infographic about ethical and legal issues related to effective technology use and I've completed mine right now. I designed an infographic for the first time so I think it was a little bit difficult. First, I decided on the specific topic that I wanted to use, and then I searched about this topic on internet. I have chosen safety and privacy issues as my topic and after searching I have taken notes. Then I searched about how to design an infographic and gathered general information. I used the Canva application for my task. I think it is a useful application for these kinds of tasks. I have tried different templates and ultimately decided on the one that I used. It is important to use legible fonts and colors in an infographic so I took into consideration these things as well.
